  • Maria Hertay wurde am 5. Oktober 1932 in Sopron geboren. Ihre Mutter war Ilona Medgyesi Schwartz, ihr Vater Dr. vitéz Zoltán Hertay. Ihre ältere Schwester Ilona war mit Béla ​Aggteleky verheiratet und lebte ab 1956 in der Schweiz.
  • In Sopron machte Maria Hertay ihr Abitur und studierte anschliessend Malerei und Grafik bei Jozsef (Soproni) Horváth und Ernő Ágoston an der Freien Malerschule.
  • Von 1955 bis 1963 studierte sie an der Kunstakademie Budapest. Vier Jahre belegte sie das Fach Malerei bei Géza Fònyi, János Kmetty und Gyula Pap, drei Jahre das Grafikfach als Schülerin von Károly Raszler, Sándor Ék und Jenő Barcsay.
  • 1961 wurde sie eingeladen, die Wände der Kirche des Heiligen Johannes von Nepomuk in Mosonmagyarovar zu bemalen.
  • 1968 eröffnete ihr Hochschullehrer Sándor Ék ihre erste Einzelausstellung im Dürer-Saal in Budapest.
  • Ab 1969 wohnte sie an der Kaporut. 4, Budapest II. Bezirk. Die Wohnung diente ihr in späteren Jahren auch als Atelier.
  • 1971 wurde Maria Hertay mit dem Preis der Nationalen Grafik Biennale von Miskolc (HU) ausgezeichnet.
  • Ab 1982 nahm sie im Sommer an den Internationalen Email-Art Workshops in Kecskemét teil. Einige Jahre später arbeitete sie auch im Email-Art Complex in Nyírbátor.
  • Neben ihrem Kunststudium konnte sie ihre erste Ausstellung an der Kunstakademie (1968) eröffnen.
  • In den 1980-er Jahren stellte Maria Hertay großformatige Lithografien in der Grafikwerkstatt in Győr aus.
  • 1988 wurde Maria Hertay mit dem“ HFA -Preis“ ausgezeichnet.
  • 1989 wurde sie mit dem „Müvészeti Alap Dij“ ausgezeichnet.
  • 1990 fand ihre erste Ausstellung in Sopron im Kulturzentrum «Franz Liszt» statt.
  • Im Jahr 2001 wurde sie vom Symposium des Email-Art Workshop Kecskemét mit dem „Képzömüvészeti Alap Dij“ ausgezeichnet.
  • 2002 wurde sie mit dem Goldenen Verdienstkreuz der Republik Ungarn geehrt.
  • 2005 verlieh ihr die Erzdiözese Esztergom-Budapest die St. Adalbert Verdienst Medaille
  • Am 18. Oktober 2005 wurde ihre Dauerausstellung in der ehemaligen Kapelle der Prämonstratenser Probstei in Csorna eröffnet.
  • 2011 wurde Hertay Maria mit dem Munkácsy-Preis ausgezeichnet.
  • Ausstellung zum 80. Geburtstag am 5. Oktober 2012 in Budapest. Die Ausstellung wurde von Mimi Kratochwill organisiert und von Kardinal Dr. Peter Erdö, Fürstprimas von Ungarn, eröffnet.
  • 2015 ernannte die Stadt Sopron/Ödenburg Maria Hertay zur Ehrenbürgerin.
  • Maria Hertay starb am 5. Mai 2018 in Budapest. Ihre Grabstätte befindet sich auf dem Friedhof von Ménföcsanak.

Biography

  • Maria Hertay was born on the 5th of October 1932. Her mother was Ilona Megyesi Schwartz, her father Dr. vitez Zoltan Hertay. Her sister Ilona was married to Béla Aggteleky and lived in Switzerland
  • After graduating from high school in Sopron, she studied painting and graphics at the school of painting of the Sopron-based painters József Soproni Horvath and Ernö Agoston.
  • From 1955 to 1963 she studied at the Budapest Academy of Art. For four years she was a student of Géza Fonyi, Janos Kmetty and Gyula Pap at the faculty of painting. During three years she studied at the Faculty of Graphics as a student of Karoly Raszler, Sandor Ek and Jenö Barcsay.
  • In 1961 she was assigned to paint the murals of the Saint John of Nepomuk Roman Catholic Parish Church in Mosonmagyarovar.
  • Sandor Ek, her art professor, opened her first independent exhibition in the Dürer Hall of Budapest in 1968.
  • From 1969, she lived at 4 Kapor Street, District 2 in Budapest, where she also had her studio in later years.
  • She was honoured with the award of the National Miskolc Biennial of Graphic Arts in 1971.
  • From 1982 she participated in the International Summer Enamel Art Workshops in Kecskemet. Later on, she regularly took part in the workshops of the Nyirbator Centre for Enamel Art.
  • During her studies at the Budapest Academy of Art and later in the Györ Graphical Workshop in the 1980s, she realized large-sized lithographs.
  • In 1988 she was rewarded with the “HFA”- Award.
  • In 1989 she was honoured with the award of the Hungarian Art Fund.
  • Her first exhibition in Sopron was organised in the Ferenc Liszt Cultural Centre in 1990.
  • The Symposium of the Kecskemet Enamel Art Foundation accorded her the Fine Arts Fund Award in 2001.
  • In 2002 she was awarded the Golden Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary.
  • The Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest honoured her with the medal of merit of Saint Adalbert in 2005.
  • Her permanent exhibition was opened on 18th October 2005 at the former chapel of the Premontre Parish Church and Provostship in Csorna.
  • 2011 she received the Munkacsy award of the Hungarian Republic.
  • The exhibition for her 80th birthday on October 5, 2012 in Budapest was organised by Mimi Kratochwill and opened by cardinal Dr. Peter Erdö, primate of Hungary.
  • Maria Hertay was awarded the honorary citizenship by the city of Sopron in 2015.
  • Maria Hertay died on May 5, 2018 in Budapest. Her grave is at the cemetery of Ménföcsanak.

  • október 5-en született Sopronban. Édes anya Medgyesi-Schwartz Ilona, édesapja dr. vitéz Hertay Zoltán. Nővéré Ilona, Aggteleky    Béláné, aki 1956 tol Svájcban élt.
  • Középiskolai tanulmányait Sopronban végezte. Festő- es grafikai stúdiu­mokat a Sopronban elő Soproni Horváth Józsefnél es Ágoston Ernő festőművé­szek szabad iskolájában
  • 1955-1963-ig. tanult a Budapesti Képzőművészeti Főiskolán. Négy evet a festő szakon Fònyi Géza, Kmetty János, Pap Gyula festőművészek mellett, három evet a grafikaszakon Raszler Károly, Ék Sándor esBarcsay Jenő növendéke­ként.
  • 1961-ben hívtak meg először a mosonmagyaróvári Nepomuki Szent János plébánia templomfalkepeinek meg festésére.
  • 1968-ban első önálló kiállítását főiskolai tanara Ék Sándor nyitotta meg a budapesti Dürer-teremben.
  • 1969-töl él budapesti lakásában (II. Ker., Kaporut. 4) amely későbbi években műteremként is
  • 1971-ben a Miskolci Grafikai Biennále díjával tüntettek
  • 1982-töl vesz reszt nyaranta a Kecskeméti Nemzetközi Zománc művé­szeti Alkotó telepen. Később,néhány évig, annak megszűnéséig, a Nyírbátori Zo­mánc művészeti Alkotó telepen is
  • Főiskolai tanulmányai mellett foglalkozhatott nagyméretű litográfiak (kőnyomatok) alkotásával aKépzőművészeti Főiskolán első kiállításáig (1968),
  • Az 1980-as években a győri Grafikai Műhelyben egyéni kiállításokon mutat be a litográfiakat.
  • 1988-ban HFA-díjjal tüntettek
  • 1989-ben a Művészeti Alap Diját adományoztak részére.
  • 1990-ben rendeztek meg első soproni kiállítását a Liszt Ferenc Mű­ve­lődési Központban.
  • 2001-ben a Kecskeméti Zománc művészeti Alkotó telep Szimpóziuma a Képzőművészeti AlapDiját szavazta meg részére.
  • 2002-ben Magyar Köztársaság Arany Érdemkeresztjével tüntettek ki.
  • 2005-ben az Esztergom-Budapest Főegyházmegye Szent Adalbert nagyérem kitüntetést adományozta részere
  • október 18-an nyílt meg állandó kiállítása Csornán a Premontrei Plébánia es Prépostság egykori kápolnájában.
  • Munkácsy Mihály-díjat a kiemelkedő magyar képzőművészeti és iparművészei tevékenység elismerésére kapta a magyar álam tol.
  • október 5. 80. születésnapi kiállítása, Budapesten, melyet Kratochwill Mimi organizálta és Dr, Erdő Peter, bíboros es érsek nyitotta meg
  • 2015 Sopron díszpolgárija
  • május 5-en halt el Budapesten. Sirhelye Ménfőcsanaki temetőben található
